When we first enrolled Neil, it wasn’t because he couldn’t speak English. He could. But he lacked clarity and confidence while expressing his thoughts. He would often stop mid-sentence or say “I don’t know” even when he actually knew the answer.

The trial class was good, but like any parent, I knew one class doesn’t define the full experience.

Phase 2: The “Is This Working?” Stage

The first few weeks were honestly confusing. Neil attended classes, but I didn’t see any big change. In fact, sometimes he looked distracted. There was also one instance where a class had to be rescheduled, which slightly disrupted the routine.

I remember thinking, “Are these classes making a difference or not?”

Phase 3: Subtle Shifts (The Ones You Almost Miss)

The change didn’t come in the way I expected.

Neil didn’t suddenly start speaking fluent English overnight. Instead, small things started happening:

One day, during a family dinner, someone asked Neil about his school project. Normally, he would give a one-line answer. But this time, he explained it in detail — without anyone pushing him.

That moment made me realize something important:

If a parent is expecting a quick transformation, they might feel disappointed. But if the expectation is gradual improvement in communication skills, confidence, and clarity, then the results start making sense over time.

Where We Stand Now

Neil is still not the most confident speaker in every situation. But he is definitely more comfortable expressing himself than he was six months ago.

And maybe that’s the right way to measure it — not by how perfect the child becomes, but by how much easier speaking starts to feel for them.
