Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover: A Guide

Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover

The cover of the book is like an advertisement. Attractive covers are supposed to intrigue the readers and give them an idea of what the book is about. The cover of the book matters a lot for an author to initiate selling and make it the talk of the town.

Investing money to make an alluring book cover is totally worth it as it will convey a high-quality message and lend credibility as an expert on your topic.

It's not to say that the book's content holds less importance than its cover. But your cover will help let your reader know the story of what they are buying without explicitly being told.

So, if you ask, "Does the cover of the book matter?" the answer will be a definite 'Yes' in today's highly competitive world. But this short article does not solely talk about books.

Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover

The phrase's literal meaning is that you can never tell a book by only seeing its cover until you have gone through it inside out. Realistically, the meaning of this metamorphic phrase illustrates that looks can be deceptive. So, never form opinions based solely on outward appearance.

You will not be able to judge the worth or actual value of something simply by seeing it (Of course, there are some exceptions). However, the perceptions or opinions must be formed after taking a deeper look at the element, person, or thing.

So, this is why it is said that appearances can be highly misleading. As human beings, we tend to make decisions based on knowing minimal facts about a thing or person. Our personal belief system controls this. Hence, it is said by many experts in 'emotional intelligence' that little information is more dangerous than having no information at all.

So, the moral of the story is the cover may illustrate to you a lot of things, but all of those may not be true.
