Health is Wealth: Invest in your well-being for a Prosperous Life!

"Health is Wealth" is a common proverb that we hear often. This saying emphasises the importance of health and equates it with wealth. Our well-being is the actual asset and the most valuable thing.

Often, in the pursuit of wealth, we may ignore our health. It is possible to acquire and enjoy wealth only with a healthy body and mind. If we lose money, we can regain it with some effort. Sometimes our bodies may undergo irreparable damage or may take a while to repair it if we choose to ignore our well-being.

Health is a holistic concept. It denotes not only physical well-being but mental and emotional well-being too. Being healthy cannot be defined narrowly as being disease-free. Not having any illness is just one aspect of being fit.

A truly healthy person will be mentally and emotionally fit and have the requisite desire and motivation to carry on with the day's activities.

We need to strive continuously to maintain our well-being. There are no shortcuts to becoming healthy; there is no magic potion. A combination of factors works together to make a person fit.

We give a lot of emphasis to the importance of nutritious and hygienic food but ignore a host of other factors. As kids, we learn about the importance of a well-balanced and hygienically prepared diet. We sometimes forget the lessons taught in our childhood, resulting in us falling ill.

Some consequences are immediate and short-term; having stale food may cause indigestion. Some effects may develop over the long term and result in chronic diseases, like having too much sugar or junk food leads to obesity and other problems.

Good health also requires us to be physically active. Exercise is an important aspect that determines the overall fitness level of an individual. Sleeping for eight hours is essential for a healthy mind and body. Other factors that contribute to a healthy mind are being creative, meeting friends and family, spending time with pets, and being close to nature.

For emotional well-being, we should try to be kind to others, be thankful for what we have, and share our thoughts with those we trust.
