Write a story about a vampire who just wants to fit in with his friends.

Writing Prompts

Writing prompts are essential when it comes to creative writing. Prompts provide children with a stepping stone to either branch out more on the topic or let their minds wander. It also helps them express more freely, without the rules of technical or formal writing restricting their writing process or thinking. Writing prompts can be topical, which can help students write essays or story focused, which can help students engage with the prompt in a personal and creative way.

Sample Prompt:

In order to help students with their writing, here’s a sample prompt:

Edward was a vampire. But nobody knew he was one. His vampire abilities were both a blessing and a curse to him. On one hand, he liked the idea of being immortal and having superhuman abilities like speed and strength. On the other hand, he did not like the fact that too much sun could harm him and even expose him to other students in his school.

This made him a sort of an introvert in school and social settings. The constant worry of being found out would make him exclude himself from any gathering or event that could possibly expose him. Eventually, people stopped asking him to come out and play and stopped inviting him to any events. This made him sadder. He wanted to make friends. He wanted to fit in with other people in his school and most of all, he wanted to be just a normal boy, with a normal life who had normal friends. But that seemed like too much to ask for.

Everyone thought he was a weird kid- never talking, no friends, keeping to himself. But any time he did try to talk, he would fail at starting the conversation. All he did was stare at them. But that was also because he could hear their thoughts. He could hear what they were thinking and whispering about him and all the courage that he had gathered to speak to them would leave just as soon as it came.

He thought he would forever be lonely till one day, he saw someone on the football grounds, running just as fast as him. He thought maybe his need to make friends, made him imagine someone just like him. But he saw the blur again. To normal human eyes, the speed of this person was too fast to be noticed. But not to him. He needed to know who this person was.

The thought of finally making a friend made him smile a little- something he rarely did these days. The bell rang and everyone started coming back to class. Edward looked at his classmates, trying to figure out who was the person in the field after all.

He will find out. He will be their friend.
