We all know the need to eat five times a day or five portions of fruits to ensure physical health. But what about mental health? Why does nobody talk about having a healthy mind? Over these two years of living amid the pandemic, we became more aware of how important mental health can be and how essential it is in our daily lives.
So basically, knowing the current situation, my school thought of having a small seminar about this topic and thought of having a social media influencer to interact with students. As in today’s generation, youth are more engaged in social media, so the school thought it would be a great idea to call someone from that field. On the day of the seminar, she did arrive and started her speech which was so impactful.
She discussed the importance of appreciating the small things in life and not allowing evil thoughts to overtake us. It's critical to take some time before the day's activities begin. Get out of your bed, brush your teeth, have some tea/coffee, and read your book before starting your daily activities.
She also emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy sleep pattern. She recommended that people disconnect from their phones for an hour each day and use that time to nap or watch a movie. "It is vital that we pause a moment and breathe because our minds are continuously fed with information." She also mentioned the importance of keeping an eye on current affairs.
"Make a note of whom you're interacting with and what stuff you're consuming daily. Check to see if it's enjoyable, sad, or beneficial and if it's encouraging you in your progress. Whenever a doubt or strange thought arises in my head, she tries to focus on the positive aspects of her life rather than the negative aspects." She said.
According to her, writing down all of the things we are grateful for is quite beneficial. Because when you start to focus on the negative side, it becomes too frustrating at some point, and we often complicate things that are not that complicated.
So, we should note to always focus on the positive aspect and avoid negativity from around us.
We should all take care of our mental health as we take care of our physical health.
