Complete-the-Sound: Missing CVC Vowel Practice for KG

This KG worksheet strengthens children’s ability to identify and fill in missing vowel sounds inside CVC (consonant–vowel–consonant) words. On page 3, learners choose the correct vowel from a vowel bank to complete words such as cap, hat, sun, pen, map, bag, rat, fan, lid, and tap, guided by picture clues.

On page 4, children assess whether CVC words contain the correct vowel sound, deepening their phonemic discrimination skills.
Pages 5–6 feature picture-supported MCQs where students must pick the correct vowel sound to complete words like hen, can, pin, sit, bat, fin, rod, leg, top, and mop.
Finally, pages 7–8 allow learners to write their own vowel-based CVC words as well as words ending in g, p, and t, and a picture-based CVC type.

This worksheet builds strong decoding habits, reinforces vowel comprehension, and improves early spelling accuracy.

    Why Missing-Vowel Practice Matters?

    CVC vowel-sound practice helps children:
    1. Identify middle sounds accurately for early reading.
    2. Strengthen phoneme–grapheme (sound-to-letter) mapping.
    3. Decode unfamiliar words more confidently.
    4. Build foundational spelling and writing skills.

    What’s Inside This Worksheet?

🧠 Exercise 1 – Fill the Missing Vowel
Children fill in vowels for 10 CVC words using a vowel bank and picture clues (page 3).

    ✏️ Exercise 2 – True or False
Learners evaluate whether CVC words contain the correct vowel (page 4).

    📘 Exercise 3 – Missing-Sound MCQs
Students select the correct vowel sound that completes each CVC word, with supporting images (pages 5–6).

    📝 Exercise 4 – CVC Word Writing
Children write CVC words for each vowel (a, i, o, e, u) plus additional tasks like “ending with g,” “ending with p,” “ending with t,” picture-based CVC, and “any CVC word” (pages 7–8).

This worksheet provides structured, phonics-rich practice ideal for building confident early readers.
