The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Brothers (abridged): Reading Comprehension for Class 7

In the heart of the Indian jungle, a baby boy wandered from his village and was found by Father Wolf and Mother Wolf. They protected him from the fierce tiger Shere Khan, who wanted to make him prey. The wolves named the boy Mowgli and raised him as one of their cubs. He learned to run, climb, and speak the language of the jungle. Bagheera the black panther and Baloo the bear became his teachers, guiding him with the Law of the Jungle—hunt for need, not pride. As Mowgli grew older, he became brave and clever, but Shere Khan continued to threaten him. One day, when the tiger attacked, Mowgli used fire, which animals feared, to drive him away. The jungle creatures cheered his courage. Still, Mowgli felt different, knowing he was human. When he saw people by the river, he wondered where he truly belonged. Finally, as a young man, he decided to go to the human village but promised his wolf family never to forget them. The wolves howled their farewell, proud of their human brother. Mowgli understood that courage and loyalty made a leader, not birth or strength.
