A Rainy Day Adventure: Reading Comprehension for Class 6

It was a rainy Saturday morning, and Aarohi woke up to the sound of heavy raindrops tapping against her window. The sky was grey, and puddles had already formed on the road below. Her mother told her that school was closed for the day because of the rain. Aarohi was excited—she loved rain! After breakfast, she and her younger brother, Kunal, wore their raincoats and stepped outside to play in the small lane near their apartment. They floated paper boats in the water that flowed by the drain and laughed when one got stuck under a leaf. Suddenly, the rain became heavier, and they ran to take shelter under a big gulmohar tree. Their neighbour, Mrs D’Souza, called them to her porch and gave them hot pakoras and steaming chai for their mother. When the rain slowed, Aarohi spotted a tiny puppy shivering near the gate. She quickly picked it up, wrapped it in her scarf, and carried it home. Her parents helped dry the puppy with a towel and gave it some warm milk. The puppy wagged its tail happily. Aarohi decided to call it “Monsoon.” By evening, the sky cleared, and a bright rainbow appeared over the buildings. As the family sat together watching the colourful arch, Aarohi realised that sometimes even a rainy day can bring unexpected joy and kindness. It was a day she would never forget.
