A Sunny Day: Reading Comprehension for Class 6

The sun was shining bright when Neel stepped out to play in the park with his friends. The air felt warm, and birds were chirping on the branches. Neel carried his cricket bat while his friend Riya brought a frisbee. They agreed to play both games in turns. After a few overs, everyone sat under a large peepal tree to drink water. Neel’s mother had packed lemon juice and sandwiches for them. A group of small children nearby were trying to fly a kite but couldn’t make it rise. Neel offered to help and held the string until the wind lifted the kite high. The children clapped and cheered. Later, he and Riya helped clean up plastic wrappers left on the grass. Their teacher, who passed by on a morning walk, smiled and said, “Good job keeping the park clean.” They promised to remind others not to litter. As the sun grew hotter, they rested in the shade and watched butterflies flutter near the flowers. When it was time to go home, Neel felt happy that they had fun and also done something useful. The sky slowly turned orange as evening approached. Neel realised that a sunny day was not just about play—it was also about sharing, helping, and caring for nature. It ended with tired faces, full hearts, and a promise to meet again the next day.
